Art

Matt’s visual work exists alongside his music as part of the same creative impulse — not as a separate discipline, but as a parallel expression.

His earliest artwork took the form of hand-drawn cartoons. The vibrant, sometimes playful style can appear at odds with the sharper, more serious edge of his musical output. Yet the two are intrinsically connected — forming a kind of creative yin and yang within a larger whole.

Where the music may explore restraint, articulation, and emotional nuance, the artwork often leans into exaggeration, saturation, and density. Each informs the other.

Hand-Painted Guitars

A number of original designs have been created directly onto guitars, transforming functional instruments into unique visual statements. Select pieces are available for purchase here.

Several early sketches have also been digitised and recoloured, extending the original hand-drawn concepts into new forms.

Digital Work

More recent digital projects show a clear influence from M.C. Escher, particularly within the tessellated ToonTangled series. These works embrace complexity and visual overload — intentionally operating as an “assault to the senses.”

In contrast to the restraint of a lyrical ballad solo, these pieces embody a philosophy of “more is more.” Pattern, repetition, and layered detail become the focus, pushing visual density to its limit.
